Regarding the 'Art Around the World' camps, in short, yes! Each camp session shares an overall theme, but projects, materials and instruction are adjusted for each age group's interests, skill level and abilities. While some activities will be very similar across the camps, younger students will focus on simpler techniques and exploration while older students will dive deeper into detail, creativity and more advanced skills. Each camp per age level is offered twice this summer to provide more scheduling options for families : K-2 Camps: Session 1 (June 1-5) & Session 4 (July 13-17) 3-5 Camps: Session 2 (June 8-12) & Session 5 (July 20-24) Middle School Camps: Session 3 (June 22-26) & Session 6 (July 27-31) The High School camps will be doing the same creative process for two distinct projects -- The Tornado Days Tee Camp will have kids designing shirts for Centerville's iconic 4th of July festival week, and the Matching Set Camp will give kids freedom to create their own designs for an apparel set totally unique to them. Absolutely! Kingold Studios camps are designed for a wide range of experience levels — from students who love art but have never taken a class, to kids and teens who already enjoy creating regularly. Our goal is to create an encouraging, low-pressure environment where students can learn new skills, try different materials, and build confidence in their creativity. Projects are adapted by age group and experience level so every student can succeed and have fun!

Yes — all standard art materials and supplies needed for camp projects are included in tuition unless otherwise noted in the class description. Students are asked to bring personal items such as a water bottle, paint shirt/apron, or snacks depending on the camp schedule.

Each camp day typically will start with an icebreaker and engaging mini-lesson, then a mix of demonstrations, hands-on creative work time for projects, movement & snack breaks, and opportunities for students to share their work. Depending on the camp theme, students may explore painting, drawing, mixed media, cultural art projects, screenprinting, design, or other collaborative activities. We aim to balance structure with creative freedom so students stay engaged!

Screenprinting is a printing process where ink is pushed through a mesh screen onto fabric or paper to create a design. It’s commonly used for t-shirts, posters, tote bags, and other apparel. At Kingold Studios, students will learn the basics of designing artwork for print, preparing screens, using ink and tools safely, and printing their own wearable creations by hand.

Our high school screenprinting camps will take place at the Geez Louise Printing storefront in downtown Centerville, SD and are designed to give students a hands-on introduction to the screenprinting process from start to finish. Students will choose their garments, create designs (whether by hand or digitally), learn about print setup and production, and print their own apparel. No prior experience is necessary! Camp tuition includes a baseline garment item(s); upgraded garment options may be available for an additional cost. When reserving a camp spot, payment secures your student’s place for the full session. Because supplies, staffing, and preparation are planned in advance, refunds are not available for missed days, schedule conflicts, illness, or cancellations. If Kingold Studios must cancel a camp, families will receive a full refund or credit option.

At this time, Kingold Studios will not be providing snacks. Due to potential food allergies, dietary restrictions and regulations surrounding food service permits for businesses, we ask families to send snacks from home instead. We highly encourage students to bring the following to camps: A water bottle 1-2 easy, non-messy snacks for break time Clothes they won't mind getting messy Please avoid snacks containing peanuts or other common allergies when possible!
